As a PMP since 2005, I have observed a number of changes in the profession. The PMBOK has got thicker as it embraces more points of view, including Agile Project Management, and technology for PM tools has developed apace. The first version of Import-Export for the Aras PM Application was for Innovator v8.2, it used the ActiveX control provided as part of MS Project, and was supported up to Innovator v9.4. For Innovator v11.0 an Office Add-In was created as a Community Solution. This new version supports OAuth for Innovator v12.0.
As Microsoft Office transitions from the desktop to the cloud, there are online offerings for Project in addition to desktop versions. Also, Office automation has moved from VBA to Add-Ins to Office365. Project is part of O365, but it is not openXML, and not part of the standard suite. Compared to the rest of O365, both online and desktop versions of Project are expensive, and online versions do not yet have all the functionality of the desktop.
4-R-Forum has updated the MS Project Add-In for the desktop version of MS Project for Innovator v12.0 and it enables import and export for PM-12.0R1. It is available in GitHub. The repo includes Release Notes and Deployment Guide and source code, so the Add-In an be extended. GitHub collaborators will be welcome.
